The Psychology Of Humility What All Humble People Have In Common

New research1 published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin suggests it has nothing to do with downplaying your accomplishments, contrary to what you may think. Instead, the researchers pinpoint a trait called hypo-egoic nonentitlement as being the defining mark of humility. The results? People with high humility scores were much less likely to think they deserved special treatment for their accomplishments and positive traits. But humble people were not less likely to identify accomplishments and positive traits they were proud of, nor did they tend to rate their accomplishments and traits less positively....

The Reason Love Dies And How To Get It Back

But what about things that we want to do–do we like that? Well, the same rules apply to love. When you feel like you have to love—that you have to do things to make your partner happy, that you have to be a certain way to get the love you want—then the feeling of authentic love starts to disintegrate and die. Sounds harsh, but it’s true. Love needs space to grow....

The Routine That Makes Free Native S Creator S Skin Glow

As an herbalist and manifestation guide, beauty has always been an inside job for me. It’s in one’s most natural and authentic states that I find women (and men) beyond stunning. The large Turkish nose, the indented gap in the teeth, the untouched hair after one has been swimming in the ocean all day. However, healthiness is also a radiant form of beauty, one that is so subliminal we can hardly put our finger on it: the glowing skin, bright aura, and unexplainable happiness and confidence one has when they are in harmony....

This Is Why Your Partner Has No Empathy Acts So Cold

All the evidence is that we are not cutthroat, survival-of-the-fittest evolutionary competitors. We are actually bonding animals who are naturally cooperative and empathic. In fact, studies by Michael Tomasello and colleagues show that even 14-month-old babies will offer to help an adult who cannot do a task and will comfort someone in distress. But often in romantic relationships, we feel that our partner is cold and unfeeling. But maybe rather than assuming that John is a Neanderthal, it’s better to get curious about what is getting in the way of his natural empathic response....

Toxic Positivity 5 Examples Why It S So Harmful

According to licensed therapist Jody Kemmerer, LCSW, toxic positivity stems from wishing we were feeling something we aren’t. We aren’t comfortable with those tough feelings, “so we admonish ourselves to feel differently,” she previously explained to mbg. But if we do this all the time to avoid or deny our genuine experiences, she says, “we run the risk of invalidating our feelings.” In the past year, the phenomenon of toxic positivity has received more and more attention....
